Mediation To Heal The Planet

Meditation purifies the environment. Meditation has transformed aggression and violence in people - to compassion, love and care.

For example, notice how you feel when you enter a room where someone is really angry? It leaves you feeling the same!


Similarly, when there is a harmonious or a happy activity, you feel good. You may wonder why. Feelings are not isolated in one's body - they are all around. It is in the whole environment, because the mind is subtler than the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether). If there is a fire somewhere, the heat is not just in the fire, it is also radiating throughout the place.


Note: If you are unhappy or depressed, you are not the only one who is feeling it; you are spreading it to the whole environment.


In the current global situation of conflicts and disease, it's important to meditate a little every day. Through meditation, you can nullify the negative vibrations in the environment, thereby creating a more harmonious environment.


The Healing Breath and Meditation


A jewel in The Art of Living is the healing breath, known as the Sudarshan Kriya.

This unique breathing practice is a potent energiser:


  • · Every cell becomes fully oxygenated and flooded with new life

  • · It flushes out negative emotions from the body

  • · It releases tensions, frustrations and anger

  • · It clears anxiety, depression and lethargy

  • · It gives relief to both the mind and body


After the practice, one is left calm and centered with a clearer mind. A sense of joy in the moment prevails, and you're able to smile from your heart.

Meditation is one of the most beneficial acts especially during a full moon and one of the potent methods of service to humanity and to mother earth. During meditation the mind of the meditator becomes a channel to receive the energies of divine light, love and power and later distribute it to a family, community and further to the whole humanity.

The moment of full moon every month therefore, offers greatest opportunities for meditation, not only to cultivate personal benefits but also to take part in the manifestation of the Divine Plan on earth.


Although any time of year is good for meditation and people who are ready and available can tap into the energies of the divine, there are energy cycles that make this easier and more powerful, and full moon is one of them.


A Full moon has always been a sacred time for spiritual practices in many ancient religions and cultures. In fact it is believed that a full moon is both a time of crisis and a time of opportunity. Because of its magnifying effects on earth and its people, it has been observed by generations that whatever activity is being done during the full moon, will be magnified in effect and intensity. More accidents, more child deliveries and more psychological disturbances are often being reported during full moons.


In Buddhism different phases of Lord Buddha’s life and development are all believed to happen in full moon days.

Furthermore because of the moon’s astrological characteristics and effects on mind and emotions, often during the full moon period people tend to get more sensitive and often witness more emotional and relationship problems compared to normal times of the year. That is one of the reasons why insanity is also called lunacy!


One of the means to neutralise such influences during the full moon is therefore practicing meditation and purification.


In fact meditating during full moons have been recommended from long ago, which can help us harness the magnifying effects of the full moon energy for greater spiritual activities and helping the mother earth.


Besides the calming and uplifting effects of meditation, which can best neutralise the unfavourable effects of the full moon, many other benefits can be cultivated through meditation.


During the full moon meditation, especially if the meditation is being done in a group, more divine energies will flow to the practitioners and thereby making it easier to have experiences that might be difficult to have when meditating alone on other times of the year.


In order to manifest a wish or materialize a plan, we need to stuff it with enough energy. Wish or plan is in fact a thought form created by us that has a shape, clarity and life span. In order to increase its potency and life span we need to stuff the thought form with enough energy.


The result is normally faster manifestation of wishes and plans.


Full moon is basically one of the opportunities for world service. When people of good will and the will to do good come together and meditate, they become channels to receive and bring down divine energies of light, love and power and pass them on to every person and every being on earth.


When divine energies are directed to humanity and mother earth, especially the people in need and the areas affected by wars and natural and man-made calamities, they can bring about relief, peace and upliftment.

In fact a full moon is one of the greatest opportunities of world service that is given to groups of men and women of good will to become active channels to help people in need and help in the manifestation of the Divine Plan.



The Great Invocation is one of the potent prayers that can be recited after the group meditation to further bless the earth.


The full moon is the time to stay calm, let things go, breathe deeply through difficult moments and forgive others for their mistakes. Seriously, if you can’t let something go and need to communicate it (which I recommend), try to postpone sharing your upset until at least two days after the full moon. Whatever happens at this time is multiplied. It’s like having emotional fertilizer. Keep the energy moving in a happy, uplifting direction at home, work, in the car and in your every day interactions.


Imagine if you will, the world at the time of the full moon, with people from around the world doing meditation the power and success that can come from it and the lives of others as well as ourselves that can change for the positive. Wouldn’t you like to be apart of that spiritual shift for humanity?
