Experience ultimate rejuvenation with our Hot Oil Abhyanga Full-Body Massage, a deeply restorative treatment rooted in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of holistic healing. Abhyanga is an ancient Indian Ayurvedic oil massage therapy that heals and detoxifies the Body, Mind, and Spirit.

The word "Abhyanga" literally translates to "massaging the limbs" or "glowing body." This sacred, time-honoured therapy combines rhythmic, purposeful massage strokes with deeply warming, herb-infused oils tailored to your unique constitution (dosha). It means "loving hands" and is a heartfelt, hands-on technique for integrating mind and body. Far more than a standard relaxation massage, Abhyanga acts as a cellular detoxifier, nervous system tonic, and energy balancer, working from the outside in to restore harmony to your mind, body, and spirit.

Benefits of Hot Oil Abhyanga

Abhyanga offers profound physiological and psychological benefits by stimulating the lymphatic system, calming the nervous system, and nourishing the skin.

  • Calms the Nervous System: The oil's heavy, warm qualities soothe the nervous system, drastically reducing stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue.

  • Enhances Circulation and Lymphatic Drainage: Synchronised, rhythmic strokes stimulate blood flow and encourage the elimination of metabolic waste and toxins from the tissues.

  • Deeply Nourishes and Hydrates Skin: The warm, herbal oils penetrate deep layers of the skin, improving elasticity, softening texture, and leaving a radiant, youthful glow.

  • Relieves Muscle Stiffness and Joint Pain: Warm oil lubricates the joints and softens tight muscle fibres, reducing inflammation and improving overall flexibility.

  • Improves Sleep Quality: By grounding excess vata (air/ether) energy, this treatment prepares the body for deep, restorative, and uninterrupted sleep.

  • Boosts Immune Function: Regular treatments stimulate antibody production and strengthen the body’s natural defence mechanisms.

  • Increases Energy and Vitality: By clearing energetic blockages (nadis), Abhyanga revitalises the body's life force energy (prana).

What to Expect During a Treatment

Your session is a curated, meditative journey designed to provide a sanctuary from the outside world.

  • Personalised Consultation: Your therapist begins by assessing your current state of balance to select the specific warm herbal oil blend best suited for your body's needs.

  • Preparation and Oil Warming: You will be invited to undress to your comfort level and lie down on a comfortably heated treatment table. The customised oil is carefully warmed to a deeply soothing temperature.

  • The Treatment: The therapist applies the warm oil generously from head to toe using a specialised Ayurvedic sequence. This involves long, fluid strokes along the long bones and circular motions over the joints and vital energy points (marmas).

  • Focused Attention: The massage flows seamlessly over the scalp, face, torso, limbs, hands, and feet, ensuring every inch of the body absorbs the healing properties of the oils.

  • Post-Treatment Rest: After the massage, you will be given a few moments to rest in stillness, allowing the oils to penetrate fully into the deeper tissue layers.

Contraindications for Abhyanga

While Abhyanga is exceptionally safe and therapeutic for most individuals, there are specific conditions under which this treatment is not recommended.

  • Acute Fever, Cold, or Flu: The body is actively working to clear pathogens; adding systemic oil stimulation can worsen symptoms.

  • First 2 to 3 Days of Menstruation: Abhyanga initiates a deep downward flow of energy and detoxification, which can cause excessive bleeding or cramping during the heavy days of a cycle.

  • Pregnancy: Standard Abhyanga is not recommended during pregnancy, though specialised prenatal Ayurvedic treatments may be available.

  • Digestive Distress or Heavy Indigestion: Massaging immediately after a heavy meal or during acute digestive upset can disrupt the metabolic fire (agni).

  • Acute Inflammation or Infectious Skin Conditions: Kelly does not massage open wounds, active rashes, or severe skin infections with hot oil.

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Severe Heart Conditions: Systemic circulatory stimulation can pose risks for individuals with advanced vascular issues.
