And the perfect "loving" touch to release the flow of subtle physical and mental energy to give a lasting sense of relaxation.

Ayurvedic medicine is the oldest medicinal system in the world that originated in northern India over 5,000 years ago.

It includes a system of herbalism similar to traditional Chinese medicine, but offers dietary regulation, yoga and other exercises, bodywork and detoxification.

Abhyanga Massage is often termed as a luxuriously relaxing massage technique that utilises warm oil to get your mind and body ready for peak performance. It is deeply relaxing  and revitalising while at the same time being gently cleansing and detoxifying.

If you are feeling nervous, anxious, or lethargic having any sleep deprivation, the warm herbal and aromatherapy oils that are applied help calm the mind and nervous system making you feeling relaxed, peaceful, clear, focused and alert and light.

What to Expect in a Treatment:

An Abhyanga Massage includes a detailed assessment of health and wellbeing before treatment and to establish your Dosha type (body type) This is a unique pattern of living force and energy that controls various activities of the body. These Dosha's (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) can become inbalanced and can cause sickness, disease and general health issues.

Once the therapist knows which dosha imbalance is present in the body, the therapist will choose the appropriate dosha aromatherapy oil to be used in the treatment. The chosen oil is then heated and will remain warm throughout your massage.

The music, the aroma, the heating, the lighting will all reflect your dosha needs that are present on the day of your treatment.

You will then be asked to relax on the massage bed and you will receive a deeply relaxing head, neck and shoulder massage, face, chest, abdomen, arms and legs and finally the back. Using heated warm dosha aromatherapy oil relaxing strokes, pressure points (Marma points) and intuitive flowing movements that work on the skin and muscles of the body.

At the end of the massage you will be covered in warm blankets, allowed to rest, allowing the oils to absorb into the skin, while a fresh herbal tea and snack is provided specifically made for your dosha is brought to you. You are then asked to take your time to come off of the massage bed, change and enjoy your tea and snack. You will also receive some dietary and lifestyle information for you to take home and read at your leisure at home to help maintain the benefits and improve your dosha imbalances.

And to avoid the need to rush off after your treatment. It is highly recommended to take your time after the massage, take the afternoon or rest of the day or evening off, if possible for you to enjoy the healing oils and the healing benefits of this deeply relaxing massage.

Before Your Treatment:

It's worth considering that the oils used in the massage are richer in consistency and you might not want to return to work or do the weekly shopping straight after your treatment. If you can clear your diary for the rest of the day and evening, you'll be able to spend longer in post "Abhyanga" heaven at home.

Avoid eating a heavy meal or drinking alcohol in the hours leading up to your massage.

Please tell your practitioner about your medical history when asked, its important to tell them if you are - or think you may be - pregnant or have any health conditions or injuries anywhere on the body or any recent operations also.

The massage is performed traditionally with not wearing very much, disposable paper thongs are provided and your modesty is covered with a sheet or a small towel. These steps are taken to avoid interrupting the continuous flow of the massage.
