This Deep Tissue Massage is intended for those looking to have a more targeted, isolated massage with deep and direct pressure.

This massage focuses on the deeper tissue structures of the body. This massage is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Deep tissue works all of your connective tissue and fascia, as opposed to Swedish massage, which is more superficial.

Whether you’re an athlete with a daily high demand placed on your body, deep tissue massage likely has some benefits to offer you. It can involve moving the body into certain positions — deep tissue massage is usually much slower and firmer, using Trigger point techniques and release therapy.

Deep Tissue Massage is not meant to be painful, but very nurturing. Pain isn't necessarily a good thing, and it's not a sign that the massage will be effective. In fact, your body may tense up in response to pain, making it harder for the therapist to reach the deeper muscles.

It is not a "hard" massage and never consists of entirely deep work. Deep tissue works on the many layers of tissue to relax, lengthen, and release holding patterns in the most effective way possible. There is more emphasis on altering the structure and muscle restrictions, helping to increase the degree of relaxation, the alleviation of pain and the longer lasting benefits.

Deep tissue work can create physiological changes in the tissue that then create systemic changes. It can improve posture, lengthen the spine, improve flexibility and fluid movement as well as improving the quality of the soft tissue. It can help with muscle spasms and tight restricted muscles and ongoing tension, that needs deeper work.

Its highly recommended for people who engage in highly physical activities, such as running, sporting activities and weight lifting.

Using Pure Organic Highest grade quality Aromatherapy Essential Oils to help to allow the muscles, body and your mind to relax into the massage and nourish the body and naturally detoxify, rejuvenate and to release tension and stiffness.

What to Expect in a Deep Tissue Massage:

Your therapist will ask you some questions regarding your health, wellbeing and lifestyle to work out the best massage style session for you and your health and wellbeing goals for the session. Please let your therapist know of any health or medical conditions you may have and tell them if you are - or think you might be pregnant or have any allergies.

Everybody is different and every massage is also different and fully customised to your needs. Each deep tissue massage will be different to the last deep tissue massage that you experienced, depending on your concerns and severity of the issues and areas being treated.

The therapist will then ask you to lay down under the blanket or sarong provided. Using natural traditional oils such as jojoba, flax-seed, coconut or grape-seed oil that are organic and paraben and sulphate free, as well as blended pure therapeutic organic essential oils, chosen for your specific concerns. Which are later applied over the body or specify areas to be treated.

My 60 minute sessions all include a relaxing cleansing foot ritual which includes reflexology and Thai massage points on the foot and foot rocking which helps to loosen and release stiff hips and joints.

And focused and relaxed breathing techniques to help you to fully relax the body and the bodies nervous system allowing you to have a beneficial massage. Using the pure and therapeutic essential oil chosen for you.

Then using a series of relaxing strokes and techniques specific to the body part and what you want to achieve. The massage can begin by warming up the muscles and allowing the circulation to flow, deeper techniques may be used, such as forearms, elbows, soft fists, trigger point therapy and myofascial release may be applied to relieve tension and access deeper muscles. These techniques can ;help to break up adhesions and fascial restrictions lying deep in the muscles. It's really important in all deep tissue massages to allow your body, muscles and bones to be completely loose and relaxed, to allow better motion of movement, stretching and results from your session.

Deep Tissue Massage is not meant to be painful, but very nurturing. Pain isn't necessarily a good thing, and it's not a sign that the massage will be effective. In fact, your body may tense up in response to pain, making it harder for the therapist to reach the deeper muscles.

There is more emphasis on altering the structure and muscle restrictions, helping to increase the degree of relaxation, the alleviation of pain and the longer lasting benefits.

After the massage you can probably feel quiet relaxed and maybe even sleepy. You may also feel a little soreness or some stiffness, this is natural after a deep tissue massage, and it should subside within a day or so. Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to relax and unwind back home, without the need to rush off to another appointment, picking kids up, going back to work, or going to get shopping. Highly recommend that you allow some time before your massage and a lot of time after your message back home so that you can relax and enjoy the many benefits that massage gives to your body and mind. And to savour the feeling of having your muscles gently stretched and smoothed out.

Hot Tips Before Your Deep Tissue Massage:

  • Book your massage on your day off or at the end of your day so that you don't have to rush off anywhere or do anything, such as picking kids up, going shopping, going back to work or heading out drinking or partying in the evening.

  • It's a great idea to have a warm shower before your massage as it warms and relaxes your muscles preparing them for an even deeper and more relaxing experience.

  • Drink plenty of fresh water days running up to your massage, for your body to be fully hydrated and allows your muscles to be relaxed and to get the most beneficial results from your massage

  • Avoid any heavy meals at least 2-3 hours before your massage, as this will make you feel bloated and sluggish, rather than relaxed and can make massage benefits less so. Eat a very light meal 2 hours before your massage and after your massage eat a light meal, not a heavy meal.

  • Dress the part, come wearing some loose comfortable trousers, top and shoes so that you can feel comfortable putting them back on after your massage, so that comfortable feeling lasts a little bit longer after your massage.

  • Do all exercise and strenuous activities before your massage, not after your massage.

  • Avoid stress and stressful situations as much as possible before your massage and after. If you know it stresses you out to talk to your mother on the phone, don't talk to them right before or after your massage.
